When Handa Training came to TASK, they had everything except the right digital platform. Howard Swinfield-Wells and Andy Perrey had built a formidable reputation across England and Wales for training independent advocates. Between them, they have more than 30 years of experience. Over a hundred advocacy services supported. Well over a thousand advocates qualified through the national Level 2, 3 and 4 independent advocacy qualifications.
But their online presence did not reflect any of that. They needed a website that could do more than just look professional. It had to function as a complete learning environment: course content delivery, learner dashboards, progress tracking, assessment submissions, and online payments. And it all had to feel straightforward for learners who might not be especially tech-savvy.
On top of that, Handa had helped City & Guilds redesign the latest Level 4 qualification. They were shaping the future of advocacy training at a national level. Their website needed to reflect that authority.
We built Handa’s site on WordPress using Elementor Pro and the Astra theme, giving us the flexibility to create a clean, modern design that could grow with the business. The real centrepiece was the integration of LifterLMS, which turned the website into a genuine online learning platform.
Each course was structured with clear learning paths, lesson navigation, and built-in assessment tools. Learners can log in directly from the homepage, access their dashboard, work through video content and written assignments, and submit work for their assessor to review. The system supports the blended approach Handa uses, combining online tasks with direct assessor interaction, so the human element is never lost.
We set up e-commerce functionality with multiple payment options, including one-off payments and quarterly instalments for the flagship Level 4 qualification, plus instant-access PayPal payments for the shorter courses. Pricing pages were designed to make the options clear and the buying process simple.
The content strategy focused on building trust with two audiences: advocacy organisations looking to upskill their teams, and individual learners wanting to gain a recognised qualification. We made sure the site communicated Handa’s credentials, their City & Guilds approved centre status, and the depth of experience behind the training, without overloading visitors with information.
Since launching the new site, Handa have been able to scale their training delivery well beyond what was possible through in-person sessions alone. The online platform supports learners across England and Wales, with courses running continuously rather than being tied to fixed classroom dates.
The site now hosts over a dozen courses, from the flagship City & Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification through to specialist modules covering mental health advocacy, care act advocacy, children’s advocacy, and more. The Professional Recognition Award programme for leaders and managers, available at Levels 4 through 7, adds a further revenue stream reaching well beyond the advocacy sector into leadership, engineering, construction, and IT.
Handa’s team has grown too. What started as Howard and Andy has expanded to include additional assessors and support staff, with the website’s LMS infrastructure making it practical to onboard new team members and manage a larger learner base without the operation becoming unwieldy.
With over a thousand advocates qualified, more than a hundred advocacy services supported, and a reputation that reaches every corner of England and Wales, Handa’s digital platform now matches the standard of the training they deliver.
